Dear Washington Families,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year. My name is Teri Silvers and I am honored to be the principal at Washington. The first day of school is fast approaching! As we start the 2022-23 school year, we are beyond excited. It's going to be an epic year! On behalf of the entire Washington Otters staff, I want to express that we are excited to begin this incredible journey with you and your children and we are extremely grateful for your support.
We will be having some new changes in staff for this school year and I am thrilled to share these staffing changes. I would like to welcome the following members to our team: Haillie Cagle will be our new T/K teacher, Molly Crandall will be joining our 1st-grade team, and Christina Bracamonte will be teaching 2nd-grade. Sara Fox will be joining our fourth-grade, while Morgan Cummensky and Jeff Austin are joining our 5th-grade. Larry Winfield Perez will be joining our Resource Team with Alison Kelley. Ken Tinkham will be our new PE Specialist, and Mayhreya Cornejo-Kelly is our new School Psychologist. There will be other new staff members joining in the coming days, and I will share this news with you as it becomes available.
The Washington PTA will be hosting our annual “Popsicle Posting” on Friday, August 19th, 2:30-3:15, where you and your child can learn about your child’s classroom placement.
Our annual Back-to-School Night will be held on Thursday, September 1st, 5:30-6:30 pm. Information about classroom programs, curriculum, and homework will be covered. Our annual PTA Membership BBQ will be held beforehand from 5:00-5:45 pm.
Many great things happen at our school through family and community collaborations. If you would like to be more involved in Washington, please consider volunteering or attending one or more of our parent group meetings: School Site Council representation (SSC), Parent Teacher Association (PTA), English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC), and many more. I encourage you to fill out a volunteer packet online. This form will also allow you to drive for upcoming field trips.
Your involvement impacts our students in positive ways and allows you opportunities to make a difference for our students and our school. When parents and teachers work together as a team towards common goals, every child will succeed. You each are an essential member of our school community.
